BSNL to Add 100 More Towers in Puducherry to Strengthen Network
The state-owned telco operator BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has decided to add 100 more 4G (fourth generation) towers in Puducherry to improve the network quality and user experience. The move is expected to improve connectivity in the region, especially in remote areas, which rarely get high internet speeds.
Robert J. Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BSNL, has announced the move and revealed that the company has no plans to increase tariffs in the near future. However, BSNL has reduced the benefits, such as reducing the daily data usage limit & service validity while keeping the price constant.
Further adding to it, he also announced that the new service of IPTV, along with high-speed fiber internet, will also be available for users in the region. Making a milestone in the last 3 months, BSNL fiber service has added more than 20K new connections, which is indeed great growth for the company’s business.
As of June 2026 (as per claims), the fiber service has gathered more than 76K total users, showing strong positive growth in the company’s business. Also, the addition of 100 new 4G cell towers, making a total of more than 230 towers, will strengthen the network and allow the telco to add new 4G users to its subscriber base.
While the company’s 5G is yet to be launched, it still has a lot more room to improve its network quality and make it more reliable. Further, BSNL is seeking permission from the government to deploy additional towers to boost its high-speed 4G service to the masses.
