Will BSNL 5G be Game Changing

Will BSNL 5G be Game Changing: Real Truth of 5G Hype

The government-owned teleco, BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited), has recently completed the installation of 1 lakh 4G towers, and more than 96K cell towers are up and running. But when it comes to 5G, it’s not even close to private players. Both Airtel and Jio combined have deployed more than 500K 5G-enabled cell towers to improve the coverage and user experience.

BSNL has not revealed a timeline for its 5G launch, but as per rumors, it might launch its indigenous 5G service late in 2026, only in some selected cities. At the moment, it’s focusing on expanding the existing 4G network and shutting down the old 3G network to lower operating costs.

While the private players are continuously increasing the prices of their 4G recharge plans to increase the ARPU, BSNL can be a game-changer, especially for those who want to enjoy cheaper 4G plans with good network quality.

5G Hype

Talking about the 5G network, the practical usage of it is completely zero. Yeah! It’s the hard truth that most of the students, along with the working professionals, don’t need the overhyped 5G network in their day-to-day life. Most of the people in cities already have high-speed fiber connections to manage their day-to-day needs.

Jio is the only true 5G provider using standalone technology, while Airtel & Vodafone are using the existing 4G network to provide 5G services to the users.
