BSNL Outperformed Airtel and Jio in Fixed-Line Internet

The state-owned telecom operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), has shown an exceptional performance when it comes to Fixed-Line Internet. Even the private telecos, including Airtel and Jio, are not even close to the government-owned teleco, which is really great news for BSNL.

The report has been released by a French network testing company, Nperf, which is quite a reputable name in terms of independent network testing throughout the world. Nperf is a platform that provides reliable data about the quality of internet connections and also publishes such reports periodically. Here’s a brief overview of what the report revealed.

“BSNL has topped India’s fixed-line barometer for 2025–2026 with a combined score of 89,174 nPoints, improving its position from the previous year (climbing from second place) and showing a consistent upward trajectory observed across five consecutive years,” nPerf said on Tuesday.

Talking about the private players, Jio has scored 73,957 points, while Airtel has scored 74,975 points, in the same segment. It’s the only segment where BSNL has outperformed its competitor with such great margins.

As per the data from the report, Airtel provides the fastest download speed of 241.72 Mbps, followed by Jio with 225.18 Mbps and BSNL with 198.54 Mbps in the FTTH (fiber to the home).

The president of Nperf, Renaud Keradec, said that “India’s fixed-line market is entering a new phase of maturity, with fiber infrastructure driving meaningful and sustained improvements in user experience across all operators.”
